October 4, 2026 – Prof. Amy-Jill Levine – Antisemitism: Why does it persist in Catholic Teaching and Preaching 60 Years after Nostra Aetate 

October 11, 2026 – B00k Talk. Class members Debby Manuel, Gail Lippincott,  Shelley Ward, and Penny Leggett will introduce us to a book they have enjoyed.

October 18, 2026 Class member Mike Perkins will talk about the Christian Service Center’s recent renovation, the renovated buses housing homeless while helping them find housing, updates on homeless issues in general, and some of the funding challenges from the federal government.

October 25, 2026 – Class member David Fraser will discuss  NU Class Pride History, Personal Experiences, and Living our Church Core Values.  He will also show the FUMCO Pride Parade video.

 

November

November 1, 2026 – Rabbi David Kay, Chair of the Orange County Mayor’s Council of Interfaith Leaders, will discuss faith, politics, and civility amidst the pressures of an election season. 

November 8, 2026 –  Shelley Ward will offer a lesson on ‘thin places,’ those spots where the boundary between heaven and earth feels especially porous—moments or locations where we feel a deeper sense of connection to the divine.

November 15, 2026 –  Julie Cording will talk about the poetry and writings of Wendell Berry.
