Emily Towers Hartmeyer, 83, died at home in Altamonte Springs, FL on November 13, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, 10 am at First United Methodist Church of Orlando with Rev. Gene Zimmerman officiating. Pat Schwartz, a long-time First Church and Nu Class member, passed away on October 26th. A memorial service will be held at First Church on Monday, November 14 at 11:00 am. Pat served as the first woman elected to the Orlando City Council and was a trailblazer for women entering politics.

First Church and Nu Class member Ed Cepull passed away at home on March 7, surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life was held at First Church on Saturday, March 12, followed by a reception in the church Gathering Area. Nu Class member Shirley Scott died on Feb. 11. One of the first Hospice nurses in the United States, Shirley generously shared her knowledge of Hospice and end-of-life issues with the class in several informative presentations.
